About us

AiKit is the leading and fastest-growing artificial intelligence startup in Spain, and it is revolutionising the way companies face the future. With a singular strategic vision and a research-driven approach, AiKit is helping transform companies and putting its customers at the technological forefront.

The role

Artificial intelligence has already changed what software can do. What almost nobody has solved yet is how you operate it. There is no pattern catalogue for this: how you hand work over to an AI, how you supervise what it is doing, how you correct it when it gets things wrong, how it comes back to you with something it kept working on while you were not looking. That interface is the one you are going to design.

Knowing the patterns that already work is the starting point, not the goal: here you will need to know which ones still hold, which ones get in the way and when to invent a new one. You will be part of the product design team, an environment that feels more like a laboratory than a traditional design team, and you will work side by side with development so that what you design is exactly what gets built.

If you are looking to apply an already-solved system to screens someone else has thought through, this is probably not the role for you. If, on the other hand, the idea of drawing the way people are going to work with AI makes your pulse race, read on...

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a product designer with visual eye and interaction judgement in equal measure. Someone who masters the graphic craft and, at the same time, knows deeply how an interface behaves: which pattern solves which problem and why. People with taste and aesthetic judgement, meticulous and committed to the quality and the outcome of their work.

The essentials:

  • Visual eye and graphic craft: typography, composition, hierarchy and colour. Your screens stand on their own, with no need for anyone to explain the intention.
  • You know the patterns and when to break them: you do not design by intuition or by copying. You know what has already been solved, where the standard is and what you are risking when you decide to depart from it.
  • You think in systems, not screens: components, states, edge cases, what happens when something fails or takes too long. The happy screen is 10% of the work.
  • You prototype to decide: you move an idea into something tangible fast, test it and discard it without drama if it does not work.
  • You deliver so it can be built: you work with development and your deliverables are sufficient, well organised and scalable. What you design reaches the product without translation.
  • 0% ego and 100% adaptability: AI evolves at great speed; what works today may be obsolete tomorrow. You will iterate fast, with high exposure to feedback, and you will not find it hard to let go of your designs or rethink something from scratch.
  • Your stack is your competitive advantage: we are not looking for someone who uses AI as an occasional add-on, but for someone who has completely redefined the way they work thanks to it. If you still measure your work in days when it could be measured in hours, this is not the role for you.

Nice to have:

  • You are up to date with the state of the art: real, demonstrable experience with the latest models and with real AI products, not headline ones. You have an opinion on what is well and badly solved out there.
  • You have designed complex product: tools for users who spend hours inside, not acquisition pages. You know the difference between a beautiful interface and one that withstands daily use.
  • You prototype in code, or close to it: you do not need to write the product, but you understand the material it is built from, and that improves what you design.
  • You love tinkering: you are not satisfied with your day-to-day tools; you discover automations, find ways to do things faster and share your findings with everyone else.
  • You want to build a culture and be part of it: we are looking for someone who actively joins our culture, enriches it and helps consolidate the importance of design within the company.

What do we offer?

In short: an environment and a project that are ideal for taking your career to the next level, helping you become the kind of professional who will lead the new world of work. All of it, of course, with the right conditions.

In detail:

  • A career path with plenty of room to grow inside one of the fastest-growing startups in Spain.
  • Competitive salary based on your role, up to 60k per year.
  • Hybrid work with flexible hours: remote most of the time; our Tres Cantos (Madrid) office is our meeting point and we like to see each other at least one day a week.
  • A subscription bundle for every AI model, service or tool you need and want to try.
  • Being part of AiKit, one of the fastest-growing AI startups in Europe. No two days are the same here.
  • An inspiring, innovative, agile and entrepreneurial working ecosystem: a career accelerator.
  • Gaining a highly valuable perspective that will be crucial to navigating the uncertainty of the immediate future.

Important:

  • An up-to-date portfolio is essential: Behance or similar works for us. We want to see real product, not just beautiful screens: show us the problem, the decisions and how it ended up.
  • The only way to apply is through the apply button on this posting. Private messages, emails or any other form of contact will not be considered.
