About us
AiKit is the leading and fastest-growing artificial intelligence startup in Spain, and it is revolutionising the way companies face the future. With a singular strategic vision and a research-driven approach, AiKit is helping transform companies and putting its customers at the technological forefront.
The role
Artificial intelligence has no shape. It cannot be photographed, it does not fit any familiar metaphor, and everything that has been drawn so far to represent it, circuit brains and blue robots, is exactly what we do not want. Your job will be to give it one: to build the visual world through which an AI company explains itself, is recognised and stands apart from all the rest.
These will not be one-off pieces. You will build an illustration system: a language with rules of its own, able to grow, to appear in very different places and still look like the same thing. You will be part of a design team that feels more like a laboratory than a traditional team, and your illustrations will not end up in a slide deck: they will reach the product, they will move, and a lot of people will see them.
If you are looking for a space to deploy your personal style, this is probably not the role for you. If, on the other hand, the idea of building the imagery of one of the most disruptive startups around makes your pulse race, read on...
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an illustrator used to working inside a brand and thinking in systems. Someone who understands a visual language deeply, keeps it consistent piece after piece and knows how to grow it without breaking it. People with taste and aesthetic judgement, meticulous and committed to the quality and the outcome of their work.
The essentials:
- You illustrate for a brand, not for your portfolio: you put yourself at the service of a visual language, and your merit is measured by everything looking like it comes from the same house, whether you made it or not.
- You think in systems: you do not deliver pieces, you deliver rules, families and resources that others can continue without the change of hands showing.
- You master vector work: your illustrations are constructed, not drawn over. Clean, well-organised files, ready to scale, to adapt to any format and to be animated without having to be rebuilt.
- Eye and synthesis: composition, colour and the ability to decide how much detail is too much. You know when an illustration explains and when it merely decorates.
- Versatility of register: the same brand needs an editorial piece, a product asset and an icon. You move between scales and contexts without losing the voice.
- You direct image generation models, you do not consult them: you have real, demonstrable experience with the state of the art. You know how to get what you need from them, correct what they return and integrate it into a coherent visual system. The result is still yours and it is still the brand.
- Your stack is your competitive advantage: we are not looking for someone who uses AI as an occasional add-on, but for someone who has completely redefined the way they work thanks to it. Your production speed and the quality of your output must be in a different league from the rest of the sector. If you still measure your work in days when it could be measured in hours, this is not the role for you.
- 0% ego and 100% adaptability: AI evolves at great speed; what works today may be obsolete tomorrow. You will iterate fast, with high exposure to feedback, and you will not find it hard to let go of your pieces or rethink something from scratch.
Nice to have:
- You have built an illustration system from scratch, or you have kept one alive for a long time. You know what it takes for it to survive dozens of pieces and several hands.
- You understand how what you draw moves: you have worked with the people who animate your illustrations, and that changes the way you build your files.
- You love tinkering: you are not satisfied with your day-to-day tools; you discover automations, find ways to do things faster and share your findings with everyone else.
- You want to build a culture and be part of it: we are looking for someone who actively joins our culture, enriches it and helps consolidate the importance of design within the company.
What do we offer?
In short: an environment and a project that are ideal for taking your career to the next level, helping you become the kind of professional who will lead the new world of work. All of it, of course, with the right conditions.
In detail:
- A career path with plenty of room to grow inside one of the fastest-growing startups in Spain.
- Competitive salary based on your role, up to 60k per year.
- Hybrid work with flexible hours: remote most of the time; our Tres Cantos (Madrid) office is our meeting point and we like to see each other at least one day a week.
- A subscription bundle for every AI model, service or tool you need and want to try.
- Being part of AiKit, one of the fastest-growing AI startups in Europe. No two days are the same here.
- An inspiring, innovative, agile and entrepreneurial working ecosystem: a career accelerator.
- Gaining a highly valuable perspective that will be crucial to navigating the uncertainty of the immediate future.
Important:
- An up-to-date portfolio is essential: Behance or similar works for us. We want to see work made inside someone else's brand and, if you have one, a complete illustration system: several pieces that hold together, not just the best one from each project.
- The only way to apply is through the apply button on this posting. Private messages, emails or any other form of contact will not be considered.
